JOB DESCRIPTION

Brief description

 

The position of a part time Accounting Assistant consists of performing any combination of routine calculations in excel, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records.

  

Tasks

 

  • Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, accuracy, and proper codes;

  • Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers or computers;

  • Code documents according to company procedures;

  • Compile statistical, financial, accounting or auditing reports and tables pertaining to such matters as cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profits and losses;

  • Comply with federal, provincial, and company policies, procedures, and regulations;

  • Debit, credit, and total accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases using specialized accounting software;

  • Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyze information.

  • Receive, record, and bank cash, checks, and vouchers;

  • Reconcile or note and report discrepancies found in records.

  • Have the ability to cross-work among different companies.

  • Adhoc to assist Controller with projects.

 

 

Qualifications and requirements

 

  • College diploma or equivalent in Accounting;

  • Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, and to manage one's own time.

  • Must know Microsoft Excel and Word 

  • Know Quickbooks and ADP cloud software, although training may be provided

  • Familiar with Google Suites, Zoom and Microsoft Office Teams

Working conditions

 

  • The position is a part-time, with potential to become permanent part-time

  • Must have internet connection and own laptop (when onsite a company laptop will be provided)

  • A valid Ontario driver’s license is required (please do not apply if you do not have a valid Ontario drivers license and own a working vehicle)

  • 8 hrs a month (includes some hours in IPMA office)
